Vancouver pet owners had no single, trustworthy place to find and compare local pet care services — dog walkers, groomers, sitters, and trainers were scattered across directories, social media, and word of mouth.
We designed and built a clean, fast directory platform organized by neighbourhood and service type. Pet businesses can list themselves directly through a simple sign-up flow, and pet owners can browse and compare options by location — Kitsilano, West End, Mount Pleasant, East Vancouver, North Vancouver, Burnaby, and Surrey/Coquitlam.
A directory only works if people can actually find it. Alongside building the platform, we did real SEO work:
Vancouver Pet Services is live at vancouverpetservices.ca, with 45+ local businesses listed across 7 neighbourhoods, and growing as more businesses sign up directly through the site.
It's a new site, so we're not going to pretend it's ranking #1 for everything yet — SEO takes time, there's no shortcut around that. As of our last check-in: ~1,300 search impressions and 144 different search terms already indexed in the first few months live. Most of that is still people searching for the business names already in the directory — the next phase is earning visibility for neighbourhood + service searches (like "dog walker Kitsilano"), which is exactly what this structure is built to support. We track this with real numbers every quarter, not guesses.
